A passionate ally and advocate, Dwana enjoys using her written communication skills to craft winning grant proposals for important social justice causes. She enjoys researching what the community needs and how local nonprofits are uniquely equipped to address those needs, then helping to secure funding for their important work.
A Master of Arts degree from Ball State University in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in vocational rehabilitation counseling, paved the way for decades of experience in healthcare and nonprofit work. Dwana first honed her grant writing skills at Easterseals Crossroads, where she applied her background in program management to the task of securing funding to support the agency’s mission. She earned the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential in early 2024.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the Hedges team because the work we do and the nonprofits we support are so closely aligned with my own values. It is my honor to play a role in making our community a better and more equitable place by partnering with these organizations who live out their mission in such tangible ways.”
Dwana enjoys spending time with her husband and their many cats at their home in Greenfield. She serves on the Board of Directors for Pet Friendly Services of Indiana and is outspoken about animal welfare issues, including the importance of spay/neuter. Dwana’s other interests include reading, attending concerts, walking, playing violin, and supporting local craft breweries.
